The Musée d’Orsay, known in French as Musée d’Orsay, is a state museum located in Paris. It stands on the left bank of the Seine River in a building that was once a railway station. The station was constructed between 1898 and 1900 and originally served as the Gare d’Orsay.

After the station stopped operating, plans were made to convert the building into a hotel. This proposal caused strong public opposition and was eventually abandoned. Instead, the site was transformed into a museum and officially opened in 1986. Today, the Musée d’Orsay is one of the most important art museums in the world.

The museum houses an extensive collection of sculptures, paintings, furniture, and photographs. Most of the works date from 1848 to 1915 and focus primarily on French art. The Musée d’Orsay is especially famous for its Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collections. Visitors can admire masterpieces by renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne. Many of these works were previously displayed at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume before the museum opened.

The Musée d’Orsay is not only a place to view art. The building itself is considered a work of art. Its vast interior, natural light, and monumental clock create a unique museum atmosphere. The former railway structure adds historical depth to every visit.

An audio guide enhances the experience by providing clear explanations of both the artworks and the building’s history. It helps visitors understand artistic movements, key masterpieces, and the transformation of the station into a museum. Listening to the audio guide turns a simple visit into a more engaging and educational journey.

The museum is divided into five main sections. On the ground floor, visitors will find works by French painters alongside decorative furniture and design objects. Other levels focus on sculpture, painting, and photography from different periods. The audio guide application offers valuable insight into the most important artworks in each section.

With an audio guide, a visit to the Musée d’Orsay becomes more than an art tour. It becomes a guided exploration of artistic innovation, history, and architecture in one of Paris’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
